Default Inshore Yellowfin bite still going strong and now Big Eyes in local canyons

We trolled from the 30 fathom line east hitting the great 2-3 temperature break out to the 40-50 line and never had a bite all morning. Mean while friends were doing extremely well early am at Massey's at the inshore chunk bite location along the 20 Fathom line yesterday on Yellowfins. Go figure as this bite all but died a quick death last week and bang it has been on again. We rescheduled our inshore chunking charters last week due to lack of quality tuna fishing but with he reports I got we will be back running these trips this week. We have not done a canyon trip since the end of June and yesterday we opted to fish inshore of the local canyons and target Wahoo and Yellowfins but as I mentioned never had a bite all morning trolling between 30-50 fathoms. We then got a call the big eye bite was on and off we went out to the deep and released a few white marlin before getting our big eye bite and fought this devil tuna for over 3 hours with 22-24 lbs. of drag on a 30 class stand-up rod and reel set up. This one was flat our nasty and we have caught over 60 big eyes the last couple of years up to 300 lbs and never fought one over 1 hour before. Heard this morning some 30 fathom lumps north of Cape May were holding Yellowfins as they are loaded with bait so there should be some excellent inshore fishing in multiple locations off South Jersey.

Picture is of Big Eye that was over 70 inches with 7 year old granddaughter back at the dock last night

We may be putting together some open boat trips for singles and small parties in the next two weeks plus have a few open dates for regular 6 person charters.
