Default Trolled the Big Pond

Brian caught eight hybrids on an X-Rap before I caught my first on a #9, and then action died there. On the way to a big cove, we found big hybrids stacked on herring, 29 feet deep, jigged Binskys--none would hit. So we decided maybe buy herring, return later. In between, we caught three pickerel, a crappie...and with regard to Bunker Dunker's recent post and my response, I caught my first rock bass in the pond on the #9. I laughed out loud.

And then we returned to make the same passes that paid off earlier, getting two in just before floating masses of broken weeds made it impossible. First pass yielded a hybrid for me, second a 15 1/4-inch rainbow. All the hybrids were about 15 inches or a little better, released quickly.

We tried herring on this big hybrids deep. They had moved off and deeper; we found them, but they wouldn't hit.

Haven't posted in my blog about it yet, but what a morning and early afternoon. We both got cooked with the sun & heat, and felt good.
