went out saturday...yeah, bad move. WINDY! I was taking waves over the back, had to bail the boat twice ankle deep in water. What a PITA! I did manage a handful of crappie though and one 22" pickerel that i swore was an eye the way it fought, but nope. called it by 11 with one battery dead already and just annoyed.
Sunday, last minute changed plans so i headed back for revenge. No eyes again! (i think i have some kind of anti walleye funk on me) so I had some fun with the crappie again, half hoping i'd run into a smallie or eye. Nope, just plenty of crappie up to 12".
After i had my fill of that i switch over to smallies and saw birds working...couldn't get a tap with jerks, flies, blades, swimbaits...waste of time, not sure what was going on but there had to be bass chasing bait.
Last ditch effort for bass before i left was a drop shot into and near the weed edge/drop offs. within a few minutes i was catching small bass. Ended on a high note with a nice 18.25" acrobat that jumped near the boat a few times while i was trying to get it.
If you like bass or panfish and you haven't tried drop shot yet...you're missing out...and i'm sure it works with other species too. I just started trying it this year and it has saved a few days already for me for sure!
