Smallmouth Action

Decided to fish exclusively for smallmouth yesterday (7/6) and (6/30) at the Shed.

Got on the water by 6am with my buddy and was fishing with trout poles w/6lb test for the smallies which was a blast on such light tackle.

Was jigging soft plastics and doing the slow retrieve just off the bottom. Ended up with 6 smallies in 3 hours, and a couple pickerel. We also fished the a couple days before and had the same results.
We hit echo for a couple hours as well but caught nothing but pickerel.

Also had a snake follow our boat for about 10 minutes in open water! it would not leave us alone.

Nice smallies!!!! Always wanted to fish there hopefully this year. I know a few people who do really good there. Way to go in this heat wave !!!!!

Nice catch. Is anyone getting some of the TEN THOUSAND walleye the state put into Canistear annually ?

Nice fish...and I guess the snake was waiting for a dead bait or small sunny to chow down on!

Yea it was a fun day up there, no crazy big fish but consistent action all morning.
