Headed to Dandy Hook Reef at dark thirty this morning with a short fishing window:gotta be tied back up by 11/.Early afternoon flight for Hoghorn ( caught 18 lb beast on a dead stick while talking on the phone last week/ his first time fishing for blackfish)Fish god twists the knife-Found our piece/ dropped marker/ deployed anchor and drifted past ...Chain hung in anchor😖Happens...Reset - Then engine dies; at least we are anchored in somewhat togville-couple bumps on machine...Diagnose as fuel pump...Owner has platinum tow membership/ calls-and we commence fishing..They start rigs- I go Jigs after being schooled by big Mohawk crew last week...Too light of jigs to get down so it's back to whole mini green on single hook for me...Couple of shorts then it happens- owner gets pounded- drag rips 20 ft then Little piggy got back to his cave-some slack line and a few minutes later he swims out and the fight is back on-wrestle wrestle snap! A addict is born in a flood of profanitys that even scared our crab eating pet seagull off...Put a few keepers in boat and get call tow boat is 2 miles away-can see him coming...Nothing I love better then a whistle fish and I get thumped A moment before pull the anchor time- nice roaster and time to go😊...With some serious hand priming we manage a slow cruise back to Highlands.
