Do I care if somebody smokes weed or not? Not at all, but on a public boat with likely many patrons on a weekend it's absolutely not the place to do that. Speak to the captain and see what he says, I wouldn't want to be around that myself.

I was being "nice" by saying medicinal - I'm sure it wasn't. Seriously, I thought that the captain or boat owner could get into some major do-do for that happening on their boat. Every boat I've been on said that drugs will not be tolerated.

I'm going to take a stance that might be a surprise to some of you. It is still illegal so one should be discreet on a party boat. Especially with kids on board. Charter or private boat, hey baby, whatever feels right. As long as it is ok with the captain.

Not sure of the NJ law but I know in Colorado you can't smoke medical marijuana in public places!

Below is some information about the NJ medicinal marijuana program. You’re telling me that 2 people on the head boat you were on had one or more of the following conditions ( Sarcasm)???

Ok, ok, all joking aside, marijuana is still illegal in NJ and the law mandates a zero tolerance on for hire vessels. It is hard to believe that a captain or his employees would put their livelihood/job at stake… Then again maybe not, a lot of people are really stupid!

For all the private boaters who have responded in jest to this thread… Don’t forget, having/allowing your buddies to use Illegal drugs on board your vessel has implications too. What do you think will happen if law enforcement, i.e. – fish & game, NJ State Police, or the Coast Guard stops you and your crew is in possession or under the influence of illegal substances? You as the boat owner/operator can be stone sober, but if your crew is under the influence you will be in a world of trouble. It is your boat and what happens on it is your responsibility!

In order to become a registered patient with the Medicinal Marijuana Program (MMP), you must:

•Be diagnosed with a debilitating medical condition by a New Jersey physician registered with the MMP.
Approved debilitating medical conditions include:
•Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
•Multiple sclerosis
•Terminal cancer
•Muscular dystrophy
•Inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn’s disease
•Terminal illness, if the physician has determined a prognosis of less than 12 months of life.

The following conditions apply, if resistant to, or if the patient is intolerant to, conventional therapy:

•Seizure disorder, including epilepsy
•Intractable skeletal muscular spasticity
•Glaucoma

The following conditions apply, if severe or chronic pain, severe nausea or vomiting, cachexia or wasting syndrome results from the condition or treatment thereof:

•Positive status for human immunodeficiency virus
•Acquired immune deficiency syndrome
•Cancer

I thought this site was about fishing. Not crying about people smoking some weed. I get that people should be more discreet about it and respect their fellow anglers. But if you want to have a perfect fishing experience according to your values then book a charter. Now let's get back to fishing instead of bitching!

Medicinal Marijuana can not be smoked in public. It must be smoked at home or otherwise in private. The laws are not clear concerning transporting it or using it in a location other that ones private residence.

These guys were just living it up and having a good time.

Why do you think they call it a "party boat"?
