You might try live lining some sunnies under a slip bobber on the edges of weed beds. You need a decent drift for this to be effective and cover more ground so if there is no wind for a drift, slow and I mean slow troll with your trolling motor.
As mentioned above, they are much more aggressive in the spring and fall when water temps are below 60 s and that's when you'll have your best shot. Good luck and stick with it!!
