Ive notice wild trout taking topwater im the calm parts of the streams. But Everytime ive seen this they also hit subsurface stuff.

I never had a day where theyre exclusively dry flies, thats just coming from my NJ stream experience.

If you want topwater action, maybe consider a topwater streamer? Or if youre really picky and want action on dry fly try the tiny wild trout streams.
