The herons at KLG seem to be the least worried around anglers. From my experience. They're comfortable enough to be 10 feet away from you and still dunk their head underwater letting their guard down.

Hell, they just do that to prove what superior fishermen they are! Trying to give us all inferiority complexes!

This Green Heron was walking on the dam at SR snatching up baby bass. You can see one in his beak.
I told him he wasn't going to make any friends here doing that, but I don't think he cared.
