I always thought in deep lakes, that they would stay closer to the bottom in the cooler water during the summer months. As the cooler weather comes, the trout and salmon move up in the water column more towards the surface where angles throw spinners at them and do well.

However, I could be wrong as I was marking fish 7-10 feet from the surface on Saturday in 80-90 feet of water and the water hasn't really turned since I went back in July.
