We just bought our bigger boat and we were stretching her legs over the weekend. I punched in the coordinates off of a navigation chart for the AC lobster pots. We arrived at the location and found no lobster buoys. Are they only out seasonally? I am new to offshore fishing and am hoping to find places to catch Mahi when the water warms up. Any suggestions and thoughts are appreciated.
I should mention my boat is at a marina near OCNJ and I head out through the GEH ![]() |

Probably not a lot of boats targeting Lobster right now, late summer here in NJ is when they usually start.
Not sure in the AC area but up north most of the pots are dropped on the steep ledges of the Mudhole.

Those pots were conch pots and fish pots on small coral heads. Don't be afraid to cruise around the waypoints looking for low, albeit hard, structure. It's been years since I have been that area (I fish out of TI) but they definitely move around. I had spots near the north end of Sea Isle Ridge that didn't always have the high fliers as there are less inshore commercial fishermen out of Sea Isle these days.
