Opening Day Trout! Where ya headed???

Unfortunately opening day also happens to be my wife's birthday (which she tends to make a big deal about) so I will only have an hour or two in the morning to use all the Intel I have been gathering. I Will probably hit one spot on Nomahegan hoping for one of those breeders and another on the Rahway (Cranford south side). we stopped at cranford west on Saturday after the pequest open house. the cabins look like they are about to tip over. I don't mind the grime and the decrepit looking conditions but theyre just unsafe, no wonder everyone brings tents. I cant wait to drop my hobie and/or canoe in there with the kids and soak shiners, that water looks niiice.

I hear the fishing is great! I am definitely going to reserve a spot for a weekend sometime this summer. A tent is definitely the way to go! I have a contour map of the lake also, I think I found it online somewhere. It is surprisingly deep.

yea i kind of hijacked your post about the place last year, just re read that thread lol my bad. ive spoken to some ppl in the rec dept about it. seems like an awesome place keep it to pm's though don't want the out of towners ruining it!

Well it looks like everyone has there plans set! That's awesome! Good luck to all!!! I personally love getting out and interacting with other anglers as well as having a good ole time with friends! Do I care about crowds? Nope! Is it amateur day? Nope, not at all! It's a start to a new season for most! A time where friends and family come together. I look forward to this day every year although I fish 365 days a year! It's a tradition! Keep tradition alive!
