Early season fishing is very similar to ice fishing. You want your baits about a foot or two off the bottom as if it was on a tip up unless your in very shallow water. They will move up into the shallower warmer water but gotta be in the right place at the right time. Although I almost always fish bait Shiners are a good way to go now and toss a suspending jerk bait while your waiting for your float to disappear.
You should also concentrate on the north/west side of the lake as the sun hits that water the longest thru out the day.

It's early yet Buddy, Few warm days and everybodys amped to get out but the water is still in the mid 40's to mid 50's and they are still shakin off the winter.

Hey I fished about six hours on sunday and ended up with one crappie and missed two other bites so don't feel bad. Keep up the work,
Study about the species your fishing for and put the time in and you will succeed!

Another tip is try some smaller ponds or lakes as they warm up quicker and you and Farrington need to go your seperate ways!!!!!

Haha i was going to call on you GetANet, but I was kinda set on giving a chance to farrington. Plus I feel a little bad asking everyone on here for advice on spots when you've put in your time and work. I was thinking about small places around us but couldn't think of anything good. I stopped by the sad excuse for a pond JFK park but that was miserable. Why i ended up at farrington.
