SRI 8/19 Another day on the rocks

Hit the jetty at 730 with the tide most of the way out. Started off on fire I caught 6 shorts on my first 8 casts. Unfortunately only one was even worth measuring and it was 17 inches. Hit a little lull as the slack tide came and caught one medium sized sea robbin which I kept. Then played with the snappers for a little waiting for the tide to move again. Once the tide started back in the bite was back on and I caught 3 more shorts on consecutive casts. Then Igot a big hit and fought what I hoped was a keeper sized fluke but it turned out to be a JUMBO sea robbin which gave the smaller one some company in my bucket. Then I hooked up with a solid feeling fish and it was a good sized fluke. Got it to the rocks and it gave a nice shake of the head which turned out to be a wave goodbye because the hook came right out as he did it ugh!! Played around with a few more shorts after that and then hit slack tide again as the tide was now all the way in. Jetty was getting crowded and I was hot and tired so called it a day at 330. In total 15 shorts 1 woulda shoulda coulda been keeper that's still swimming and the two birds. Ate those for dinner and they were deelish. I'm glad a lot of people don't keep them cuz that just means more for me lol. They were the first robbins ive caught there since late june so hopefully theyre starting to come back in although im sure many would disagree with that sentiment. Tight lines all!
