i personally stay away from clips because i lose a rig every 10 minutes anyyway lol. i also preferred 20lbs or less for the leader.

If I can avoid using any extra hardware I will. My go to Bucktail rig is 25-40lb Fluoro (unless not in ocean). Bucktail on the bottom and a dropper loop 18 inches above for the teaser, I will use a barrel swivel between the rig and main line. My buddy uses a loop at the bottom rather than tying a Bucktail direct in order to change sizes and colors easier.

If their is no drift in the deep, I will eliminate the teaser, drop down in leader size and just cast a single Bucktail.

I'm with you... The less hardware the better. More to loose and more time consuming to re tie.

I use a long top shot, a loop at the bottom to be able to change bucktails easy
and if it breaks I use the remainder of the top shot to tie another rig on the fly.
