Most everyone including the party boats that run out of the back are fishing out by the naval peer and east.

Fluke no, Croakers yes - - small pieces of sandworm or clams, light sinkers, small hooks

No fluke - not even shorts.

I usually fish the bay by kayak all summer but it has been really aweful.

Many spots and croakers.

The bay has been awful !!!! We pounded all the spots from the triangle to Keansburg and 3 shorts and one keeper. It has been the worst season in years for the bay. I did hear of some shark sightings around bouy 1 just after sun up yesterday. Feeding on bunker. We caught more fish back at the dock in Morgan Creek than we did in the bay yesterday. Things are a bit strange. Is it black fish season yet !!!!!!

Great Kills isn't exactly the back but GK/aka Raritan Bay has been utterly horrible. Like torchee said, not even shorts.

Well its confirmed. No fluke in the back! Hit the usually spots half assed, kids dragging bait and i was bucktailing. Gave each spot a quick drift to feel it out for signs of life but except for few short hits on spearing it was like a cemetary. There wasnt much of a drift, but enough to know if something was there. Hit buoy 1,41,51,triangle, even did some up close and personals at the light house.NOTHING! Ive been running out to hook all month but figured it would be nice to try close to keyport for the wife and kids sake being they are only good for about two hours most on the boat. Looks like they will be crabbing next trip.lol Bay never seemed to recover after all that June rain.
