Tried netting some Peanuts but for whatever reason it was a desert. Glad I stopped in to see Pete for some just in case frozen Spearing and brought along some frozen Salmon bellies just for the heck of it.

First pot we pulled up on was loaded with Mahi but they were kind of finicky and only pulled one off that pot. Seems that was the deal of the day since we'd bounce around and you'd pluck 1 or 2 off each pot before they'd get wise to you..

It was getting late so I said to the guys one more pot and that particular pot happened to best of the day. They were kind of finicky at first too but we decided the use the last of the spearing and cut up Salmon bellies and put out a smorgasbord. That really got the feeding frenzy going and it was drop and reel fishing on that pot for a good 30 minutes.

Most were in the 2 to 3 pound range but there were a few going 5 to 6 pounds. So much fun on light tackle and watching them grab your bait and coming tight is a real thrill.
Great report and glad you found them! Agreed watching them grab your bait in freespool and coming tight with the aerials even on the little guys sure is fun!! No Pilot or Banded runner fish with them
Regret not making the trip but only so much you can do in the same week LOL.
