Default Lights out brown trout

Luke and I ventured north this past weekend in the chilly rain in search of some trout. After inadvertently offroading Luke's civic, we settled on a spot and began the hike to the river. It was quite the walk, but the nature was awesome. Salamanders, birds including a gorgeous kingfisher, etc. After a trek we finally made it to the spot and it looked glorious. Like the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. Luke and I were stoked and immediately started seeing fish popping off everywhere.

I saw a trout jump clear out of the water slightly upstream, super close to the bank. I tossed my lure right next to that spot and he hammered it, first trout on the second cast.

After that, it was game on...... well sort of anyway. I was catching trout left and right, bigger ones missing my lure, I probably caught 10-15, lost 6-10 more and missed another 5. Haven't had a day like that in a very long time. The key to the bite seemed to be the classic twitch twitch pause. Luke just couldn't seem to connect with them unfortunately, he had a bunch on but lost a bunch and ultimately ended up getting the skunk. This happens almost every time Luke and I fish together; one of us will do really well and the other has a terrible day but we go back and forth so it all works out

Some highlight pictures below. Can't wait to do more exploring!
