Default Finally back on the river

Well after hurting my achilles and being in a walking boot for about 5 weeks I finally was able to get out of it. I was going stir crazy so I threw the kayak on the roof of my Jeep and headed off to chase some pike.

Had a decent day catching some pike, bass, pickerel and yellow perch.

Always amazed just what you see while fishing a river in such a populated area of the state. This trip I saw some turkeys, red fox, a red tail hawk making a meal out of what looked to be a squirrel on a log, and this barred owl. The owl watched me fish for a good 10 minutes before he flew away, so cool.

Noticed that someone is doing some sort of work on the side of the river in the Great Piece Meadows area. A bunch of spots seem to have been dug up on the side of the river and then dumped on the bank. Mud and logs dumped. Probably about 6 or so spots within a mile stretch of the river. At one spot I saw this excavator parked. Anyone know what being done and by whom?
