In shore fishing non ! The original thought on spiral setups was to prevent rod twist or torquing of blank under a load .
If your fishing light rods for big tough fish it may reduce stress by allowing guides to rotate to bottom of rod thus as thought goes to use rod spline more effectively .
This idea worked on light light action rods to some degree , I personally not a fan but many swear by it , however inshore questionable ???
If a rod is splined correctly on build there’s not many inshore fish that will torque over the rod on fight , especially if you point rod at fish during fight , won’t happen !
If your tackling big tuna on stand up then it may prevent the blank from torquing ,
, I can’t answer that question since I’ve only fought big fish on straight up guides
In my opinion I’d rather have a quality stacking taper rod with a super fast recovery such as Gary Loomis’s Edge Rods , not much compares !
