Default Vacation fishing 5/15-5/19

Had a much needed week off, so worked on things at home during the day and snuck out to the lakes at night. I recently picked up the vessel formerly known as "The Green Hornet" from MikeyTopaz, so after a few weeks of shopping and installing of electronics and motors, she was ready to make her glorious return to the water. ALL FISH RELEASED except for one 20" bleeder that caught a treble to the gills!

Monday: Fished 11pm-3am with Mikey and my buddy Chris from Jigging World. The crazy wind we had died off just as we were launching. Managed 9 Walleye to 22" and the usual mix of small Bass/Rockbass. Our usual May spots were dead, but we found some cooperating fish near main lake dropoffs despite the water being cooler than in the coves.

Tuesday: Back at it with Jigman. Fished 11pm-2am. Action was a bit slower with almost zero action until 1am when we landed 6 Walleye in a 20 minute period, including a nice double header.

Wednesday: Left the boat at home and hopped in The Mugger with Scoward. Started at 1030pm and fished til twilight. Action was pretty consistent with a few Hybrids finally showing up. We managed 12 Walleye to 25", 4 Hybrids to 24", a nice 19" Largemouth and a few more Smallies and Perch. The daytime heat definitely played a roll in the nice bite.

Friday: Took the lady and the puppy out for a late afternoon trip to a small electric only lake. It was both of their first times out in the boat, but everything went smoothly . I was too busy playing Captain/Concierge to fish, but we still managed to troll up a mixed bag of Trout/Perch/Crappie before calling it around sunset.

Saturday: Back at it for another 11pm-3am trip, but at a different venue than the earlier trips. Considerably cooler made for a tough bite (air was 45 degrees when we got off the water, 50 degree drop in a couple days!). All action was in the 2am hour on slow rolled plugs. Managed a couple fish, including the pictured 19" Walleye.
