Default LBI - Day Ten - 7/11/16

Woke up nice and early today and headed to the boat. Got set up on the bow and had our breakfast. Gina's cooking is amazing. It was a beautiful day right from the start. Sun shinning and wind blowing 10-15 NNW. Broke the inlet at 8am and headed down the beach. It was an intense bite today in the morning. Once you got to the bottom, jigged it twice and your hooked up. Dad and I put on a show in the both catching at least 25-30 shorts each. Took me 10 shorts before I had the first keeper. Got the dollar fish. Dad followed up with a nice one. The action was there big time. Drift was perfect. Will moved around a few times and the fish kept on coming. Dad got another keeper then i got one right after. Nothing big. Dad biggest was around 21inches or so. So we both had two in the box and our good friend, who is also named Jeff, hooked into a real nice fish. Gets it to the top and when they go to net it the fish freaks out and goes nuts. The weight gets tangled in the net and they all most lost the fish but Hunter was able to do a sweet back handed net job. Get it into the boat and was a solid 6 pounds. Will honks the horn three times and we head in. Dad and I both end the first trip with 2 each.

Decided to stay on for the second trip since the bite was so good. Broke the inlet at 1pm and headed back to where we had them in the morning. Once we got out there the wind died down big time and the drift slowed down. Picked a few fish but nothing like the morning. Few fish on each drift but nothing great. Dad got the first keeper. So the dollar fish went to him. I just couldnt get a keeper. Had one that was like 17.99999999999inches. But no keepers. Will moved to a new spot and few more nice fish come up around the boat but nothing great. Pool fish went 5 pounds. Another guy got another 6 pound fish but for some reason he wasnt in either pool.

So dad and I ended the say with the 5 keepers total and a ton of shorts. Got a few state record sea robins again too. Which the one deck hand Hunter loves to eat so he got his dinner. Good day on the water. Be back at it in the morning.
