What a beautiful day out there today. Dad and I got up super early and headed down to LBI to beat the traffic for one but also go out fishing on the best boat in LBI. {Not a SS but im working on getting it to be one} Left the dock at 8am and headed out to the reef to start the trip. First drop dad wacks a nice sea bass. We then started a slow pick of shorts. Drift wasnt the best but it was workable. Capt Will moved a few times and it was the same story lots of shorts and sea bass coming up and a good amount were keepers. Will made another move and i dropped down and got hammered right away. First keeper of the day. That right! I got the dollar fish!! But seeing as how dad can not be beaten a few minutes later he gets hammered and pulls up a beauty of a fish. Around 5 pounds. So now we are one and one. Last drift we both pick a few shorts and he honks the horn to head in. Well dad got the one that counted because he won the pool.
Now on the after noon trip we headed out but instead of hitting the reef again we went down the beach and let me tell you!! That was an amazing move! From the first drop we were banging fish. Shorts but the action was awesome. Then again i drop down and bam get wacked. Get it to the boat and guess what. Dollar fish again!!! Dad followed with a nice fish around 19 inches. We made the same drift over and over. It was just steady action the whole time. I picked up another keeper then few minutes later i get one more keeper.
So we ended the day with 6 keeper fluke total. Dad got 2 plus a sea bass and i got 4. Today dad fished a 3oz all day and i worked a 4oz. Color was pink shine or white.
