Had some free time to kill recently so I hit a local river spot. Low flows allowed me to access a "special" spot I can't fish all the time. Brought 2 rods figuring I'd soak some livers for the kitties while I chucked my assortment of lures.
First hour yielded a goose egg so I started walking. Soon after I found some active fish. A short hike and a few casts later I hooked into my catch of the day. A nice thick 17" smallie. Soon after I moved to another spot and hooked up again.
As I was reeling in a 10" smallie on a spinner, my bait rod folded over and I quickly grabbed it and set the hook. C&Rd the smallie and went battle with an 18"+ channel. Peeled some drag on my light tackle and was promptly photoed and released.
Overall good day!! Got 2 channels to 18", 4 smallies up to 17" and a random dink lmb. Feels good to hit some home waters again After an adventurous summer!!!!
