Thumbs up Reel Class Friday 7/10 Fluke Report

Ran an open fluke trip today with a 5 man crew.

Ran up the line to get out of the wind. Fishing in tight was OK for us as we had some shorts and a few keepers, but just not enough action. A move offshore resulted in a much faster drift and a few more keepers and shorts, as well as seabass, but that slowed after a while also.

Made a move back inshore, a little further north, and the guys basically had drop and reel fluking for 10-14" fish -- after 2 drifts of that we moved off again and found a little patch, adding a few more keepers.

Our last drift, which was 1 mile in length, was a little further south of the area and we again had drop and reel action on shorts - usually had 2-3 on at a time - easily boated 75 on that drift (Fred had 14 himself!) - only problem was 1 fish made it to the measuring board, and it was a half inch short - the rest were under 16".

Whatever the case we had a great day action wise, probably had 200 + fluke, as well as a few nice seabass, but only 14 made the cut. Tim had the biggest a very skinny 23"er, and Fred led the way with 4 keepers. Bud had like 6 double headers LOL - only caught one keeper all day though. Fun day, great weather, fishing was good - the keeping stunk!
