We may be in the midst of the best bonita blitz in 20 years and while they are certainly fun to catch and great eating they can't hold a candle to the albies in the fight department. But where are the big schools we normally see zooming around the boat? There are a smattering here and there, bluefish boats at the reefs will get a couple, more at the lumps but still dominated by bonita 10 to 1, that is, if you can get by the annoying chub macks that grab your bait at a dogfish like frequency.
Rhode Island has the albies thick now, did they pass us by? I confess to not knowing their migratory patterns but I would think here first, no?
