It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved partner Tom Hansen, better known to so many as “Grumpy.” Grumpy was the heart and soul of our shop. Our patriarch, our mentor, and our friend. He was truly one of a kind. Known for his unforgettable greetings and signature gruff charm, he had a way of making every customer feel like family, even if it came with a little ball-busting. His generosity knew no bounds. Whether it was sharing his fishing knowledge, lending a hand, or cracking a joke, Grumpy gave everything he had to the people and passions he loved. His love for fishing, his customers, his friends, his family, and especially his employees ran deep. One of the things that meant the most to him was our annual St. Jude’s fundraiser every December. It was something he looked forward to each year. Helping a child in need truly touched his heart, and knowing he could make a difference in even one child’s life meant everything to him. That was Grumpy. We also take comfort knowing that Grumpy is now reunited with his best friend and our former partner, Ponytail Mike. Two legends, side by side once again, probably casting lines and trading jokes. Together, they built the foundation of what Grumpys is today. Our shop will never be the same without him. But his vision, his spirit, and the legacy he created will carry on in everything we do here. We miss you already, Grump. Thank you for everything. We love you, and we’ll keep it going just the way you’d want.

When arrangements have been finalized, we will share the details with everyone. In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Grumpys name, so his legacy of kindness and generosity can continue to make a difference.
