Headed north with a fine crew of anglers from here. Myself, Luke, Scott, Big Fonz, Nick, Brandon, Chris and Duane rented a beautiful house on Oneida lake with primo access to the Walleye grounds. Arrived Friday to 50 mph wind gusts out of the NW and still forced ourselves to get on the ice to check it out. Bad idea, the conditions were brutal. Back to the house to eat, relax and prepare for Saturday morning.
We head out early and get set up. Flags weren’t flying but we had a good pick of Perch and Walleye for the annual Sunday night fish fry. Some guys did way better then others but everyone contributed! Without fish there wouldn’t be a fish fry. Saturday night got a little nuts at the house but boys will be boys. Nothing better then Poker and adult beverages with the bros!
Sunday back on the grounds with a stiff W wind that switched to NW in the afternoon and gave us a good taste of that lake effect madness. I didn’t have my shanty properly pinned and almost flew away to Long Island with the 50 mph wind gusts that seemingly appeared out of nowhere. Had to hold the shanty down with one hand while sticking a few more spikes in it to prevent myself and my gear from flying away. Good times!!! On this day the Walleye chewed and chewed. By days end I had 23 Walleye, 8 keepers, 15 shorts and 2 jumbo Perch. It was nuts. All this out of 1 hole in my shanty. The fish Gods were very giving. Plenty of fish caught by quite a few of the guys in the frozen tundra. Good fishing everyone and phenom times had by all. Can’t wait to do it again next year!!! TIGHT LINEZ and FISH for all!!!
