Default Canyon report

JENNY LEE Wed/Thurs.
Capt. Dave and Capt Kevin two of the best tuna fisherman and he'll of great guys.
Me, JOEY da fish, Sven of the hook, cable dave. Kevin, and Todd for out annual Jenny Lee tuna trip. One hell of a crew.
Left the dock at 645 am and made it out before lunch time. The captain Trolled his but off. Got a decent Mahi and a long fin. Decided to make a 25 mile trip to a different canyon, Trolled a bit more, nada.
Set up for the night. Squid activity was horrible. Only saw a few here and there all night.
Landed two yellows on the Chunk, a small sword and a blue shark.
Lost a few and broke off sword by a blue shark that came thru the slick and rubbed the line.
Had another fish on the deep drop, prob a sword which broke off at the crimp.
Blue sharks were around most of the night.
False dawn, fish came under the boat. Landed a yellow on the Chunk and landed three on jigs, two yellows, one long. Also had another jig hook up that was lost.
After that spurt, fish were still there but would not bite.
About an hour later we had another fish on which was a yellow.
Observed a shark fin crash the bait and dumped the spool. Most likely a mako which chewed thru the line.
Set out a wire line only to catch another blue shark.
Called it quits at 10.
5 yellows, 2 long fin, two Mahi.
Not the best of a catch but if we would have landed what we lost it would have been great.
Thanks to JOEY we ate like celebrities.
Again, Capt Dave and Capt Kevin run one hell of a boat. Both guys work there buts off all day and night.
Until next year boys.....
