Dude I think I did that about 4 times to a cheap rod before I gave up on it. 1st I try to only put 1 new eye at the tip. If more is needed, I use a piece from a spare parts pole to slip on, glue, and hold it together...kinda like connecting pic plumbing. If you take your time, I'm sure it'll work just as well.
