Chasin'tail 8/8 Hudson Canyon Trip 1st Big Eye

After a tough day on the bluefin grounds on tuesday with only one fish on the jig we decided to switch things up an headed to the hudson to overnight on Friday .. we knew the bite was red hot south an not so hot north but knew what we were after and decided to stay local with the plan..nothing on the troll before dark so set up for the night a bit east of the fleet where we sat the last two overnighter s .. all was quiet till I decided to put a 3rd sword rod down, half hour later Bobby was tight an put a 54in swordy in the boat..Nice! 3 trips in a row with a sword ..up on the troll in the morning there were some boats picking yellows an longfin .. marking some niceeee meatballs knowing exactly what they were we made some tight passes an on the 3rd pass Bam rods goes down an is screaminggg. .2 hours later an in 2000 feet of water we put the first big eye on the Chasin'tail ..Steve stayed on the rod for hour n a half an let me finish it off .. what a great trip .. big eye hit a pink head tuna rocket from Jersey tackle an was fought on the jersey jigger jct rod an avet 30 combo ... also would like to thank pete at Atlantic Bait n Tackle for having all our ice an bait ready to go on Friday!!! Its clutch having a tackle shop you can count on ..Also got to test out some new splash bars n kona lures from tn-tackle that look great in the water !!
