Nothing fancy, any 7wt rod with a single action fly reel will do. Wet wading is a great way to cool off during the summer months when river levels and conditions warrant. Pound for pound one of the hardest fighting freshwater fish.

River Smallies on a fly rod are a blast. I tend to be under gunned using a 5wt with size 6 rubber legged buggers but you use the gear you got.
