Default Bonito in the surf?

Fished for about an hour in the surf near Long Branch this morning. Caught a half dozen snapper blues, two small fluke, and two unknown fish 10-12" long that look like Atlantic Bonito. Blues and bonito hit small diamond jigs, and caught all the fluke on a teaser (4" white gulp swimming mullet).

Yep. Bonito. Good eats right there if bled immediately. Awesome sashimi/sushi...minus the sand lol...

I can't find bonito in the NJ Marine Digest. Is there a size limit or season for bonito?
