Newark watershed permits

Where can I purchase permits to fish the watershed? All the information online is really outdated.

It's on Echo Lake Rd., East off Rt.23 on the left hand side.

City of Newark recreation permits must be obtained in person in Newfoundland, New Jersey at 223 Echo Lake Road.

That's ridiculous that people have to show up during office hours to get permits to do anything, including walking! Some of us have jobs.

I guess it keeps away most of the 'undesirables' from the city that infest all the parks during the summer.

I am resentful that kayaks are verboten on those lakes.

I believe they are open on Sat. As well. I went up last year with my son on a Sat morning and picked up a permit.

I stand corrected. They are open on Saturdays, now.

Monday 8AM–4PM
Tuesday 8AM–4PM

Sunday Closed

It's a moot point for me since I can't kayak there, anyway.

Last year, I tried to organize some women to conduct a topless protest at the The Newark Watershed Conservation & Development Corporation to protest discrimination against kayakers. I didn't get any volunteers. Maybe this year...

Unless things have changed, they are not open on Saturdays until April. I would call ahead to make sure before making the drive up.
