Default Better start than last year!

Place: My local stomping grounds (to those that know me its not hard to figure out)

Time: A short time ago

Jig: Crappie Thunder

Color: Refrigerator White

Last year I couldn't shake the skunk until mid to late February. Took the dog for a walk and tried Lard Almighty's technique of a tube rigged weightless/weedless. After a variety of colors and no love shown I threw on the Crappie Thunder. Bounced it along the bottom for about 30 seconds and felt the thump. Up she came. Quick photo and released.

Happy new year all!

I'm from up noth NJ but i have a feeling I know where that is. I went on a long trip to the canal this past summer, and in one of the Locks I kept losing soft plastics (indestructible soft plastics mind you) to a toothy fish. Must have lost about 4 before I finally gave up on trying to hook the fish. I was betting it was a decent pickerel, and you probably caught the thief

Nice start to the 16 year!

MudCat, it could have been any variety of toothy ones. From Walleye, to muskie to pickerel, you just never know with the canal! In the past month I have visited quite a few spots from Princeton to Somerset and have had 4 follows by what was either massive pickerel or muskie. My issue has been my overly active adrenaline that either prematurely tried to set the hook or just plain missed the strike! All but 1 followed the gold pheobe. That 1 followed the good old white curly tail Mr Twister
