Got there late, around 1:30 and fished until the sun set behind the trees. The lake was mobbed when we arrived. We set up not far from the north tower where there was some room on the ice. The guys nearest to us had 20 tip ups everywhere from right next to shore to deep water and said they got nothing. We had 8 tip ups between us and set up to jig and the only thing we caught was each other,even though we were about 30 feet apart.
Everybody we asked as they came past us said they got nada. But one guy said that that he saw someone who nailed 4 20+ inch lakers.
As the ice was emptying someone apparently left behind 3 tip ups behind sitting in the ice not too far from us. We joked about the idea that tomorrow morning some early arrivers might find three flags without having to cut a hole.
All in all a great day on the ice. Beautiful weather, a pitcher of Bloody Marys and a 4 pack of Founders Breakfast Stout (don't tell the park police). And even though we caught nothing, my friend is now a Round Valley convert and is looking to go back.
And I still have a dozen shiners left so tomorrow Fayson Lake. PM me if anyone is interested in joining me
