Default “If I want my recreational time to be this trying, I’d take up golf.”

Here, for your consideration, are some thoughts from a fisherman on the frustrating state of sport fishing in the Gulf of Mexico right now:

As the author’s friend says: “Heck, if I want my recreational time to be this trying, I’d take up golf.”

Would be interested to hear your thoughts. Is it this bad in the Atlantic? And are there too many rec fishermen to be ignored?

I went school in Texas, and had a lot of fun fishing in the gulf. It took me a long time to get used to NJ fishing, just too much fishing pressure, on the fish, and on the anglers as well......

I actually picked up golfing since I moved to New Jersey. Not a bad choice.

Now you know why I call my self "Rusty hook"

I'm opposite of you I work on a Golf course live on a Golf course & last place I want to be on my day off is on a Golf course. I wont bend for capitalism I will continue to fight. After their done taking your fishing away they will come after your golf game. They will say were killing too many deer sounds like dogfish same thing if you ask me. They will say we need to close more golf courses for the animal life.

The gray triggerfish season is closing May 1 for recreational anglers in the Gulf of Mexico.

Who’d ever thunk it?

Howzabout pout and doggies....CLOSED. Freaking Farce!

U don't have to that far to enjoy more cuts , Gulf of Maine just got dumped on where Cod - Haddock been further reduced & closed in prime fall months !!
Some days u can walk on Haddock out there. !
We have to change this system before they take every dam fishery away !
Oh forgot they didn't take away dogfish !!
Thanks a lot NOAA. !! I'll bet they play plenty of golf on r dime. !!!
