Default Passaic River Millington

The opening day of trout season always has it's share of comedy and peculiarities. I did not fish today so I missed all of the comedy and drama but as I drove past the Passaic River in Millington, I saw two guys in a Jonboat powered by an outboard plowing downstream. That stretch is not that deep and is usually only used by canoeists. I'm wondering if they came through the gorge by the quarry or farther upstream. To me, it was one of those sights that make you go hmmmm. Caution......While wading in a stream, always look behind you!

WTF!

They didn't stock that area this year, but if they did, a boat trying to drive through that crowd would have caused a small riot.

That water is really shallow. Two summers ago when the water level was really low, I couldn't even get through that area in my kayak.

There was no one fishing. The posters were up but it could have been a real disaster. The river was up but not flooded. Where they were going is anyone's guess. Still, it had me rubbing my eyes in disbelief. I'll just add it to my list of opening day wonders. Does anyone want to start a thread of funny opening day stories?
