New Jersey anglers were given an extra 11 fishing days. The season was set to end Sept. 16, but now it will be extended to Sept. 27. Anglers in New York will be able to land a 19-inch flounder, also known as fluke, instead of a 19.5-inch fish. New Jersey pushed hard for the changes during a Wednesday afternoon telephone conference call meeting of the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission. The ASMFC, a compact of East Coast states that regulates migratory fish, proposed an addendum, approved unanimously, to the summer flounder plan that allows states to give unused quota to New Jersey and New York.

No, it HAS NOT BEEN EXTENDED. The NJ Marine Fisheries Council will be able to CONSIDER whether it should be. But it HAS NOT BEEN EXTENDED.

Capt. Adam has it right, they will discuss the extended season and make a decision. Hope they do it.

This was posted under bonus fluke topic earlier. AC Press reported this wrong. There is a vote to take place on May 2nd to determine if the season will be extended.

Ok so May 2nd they will decide... Hope they extend it but at the same time i dont.. It would be nice to fish longer but then im sure if they allow it they will claim we over fished big time and we will loose bag limit or increase size for next season.. Double edged sword..

I agree 100% saltlife.... I wish you NJ guys would have never given up the original 8 fish limit for a 5 fish limit, you guys really kind of screwed yourselves.
I said it before and i will say it again you guys will over fish according to them, and NY and NJ will soon have the same crappy regulations... ![]() |
