It just another example on how they outsource American Jobs. It's just a total sin this industry needs a break but all they do is break it.

Impose a 3-5 year tariff on imported fish until the US fish stocks increase and regulations loosen. Of course this means paying more at the fish market, but if we care about our jobs and our fish, it makes sense to me. I'm pretty sure the fish I catch costs me well over $100/lb...

This is just the Tip of the iceberg... The problem in New England is not the local commercial guys but The Corporate Commercial guys who own Mid-Water Trawlers and have contracts with the heavy hitting guys like Burger King, Mc Donald's, Gortons and the like.

Those are the guys lobbying for whats happening up there. I am all for commercial fishing to support the local markets not the Nation, and if you want fishing to come back, both Fishermen that go to catch dinner or make a check (Local commercial guys) need to band together and go after these corporate Mid-Water Boats and their lobbying people.

There is another problem, and the word Recreational is a very bad word, I consider myself a fisherman, the minute you say Recreational you open the door to bad things, because a recreation isn't a necessity it's like a luxury and in that respect they can and will say well you don't need to catch fish yourself you can go to the market and by fish so all "Recreational Fishing" is closed indefinitely.

Now if who ever thinks that this is only going to target the Commercial guys, you need to read the red flags that this is just paving the way for only a select few to be able to fish and in this plan, you aren't one of those select few...

So what species of fish are those "corporate " mid water trawlers targeting in New England?
