Thanks guys.. right now im leaning twards a lakehouse in VT or upstate NY. Most of my friend have Kayaks along with myself so we wanna stick to smaller bodies of water, no longer than 2-3 miles long or so..

Lake George. 3 hrs, 200 miles from NJ.
I have a cabin on the lake. Spring, lake trout and salmon off docks by streams Summer, trout, salmon, bass, perch, panfish, ect Fall, all of the above. Kayak shop where you can do weekly rentals for a few hundred bucks. You can camp on the islands on the lake which is an adventure in itself. There are a few fishing charters on the lake. Rod bender being one of the better ones. |

Lake Bomoseen in VT is a very good bass lake. We vacationed up there awhile ago. Holds big bass and I had by far my best day of fishing ever on that lake.

bomoseen is a good one, but there are quite a few powerboats on it, kind of gets that lake hopatcong vibe, dunno if that's what you are into or if you are looking for a quieter time
you might also check out VT's chittenden reservoir. it is a fantastic walleye fishery as well as being packed up with perch and bass. there are some houses on it, but it is a lot quieter than bomoseen. it's great for kayaks.

If you do choose Bomoseen, there's a huge hill covered in slate that leads all the way down into the water. Between my dad, brother, and I we had about 60 bass in about 4 hours, all within the distance of the slate pile. We just dropped Texas rigged power worms, let them hit the bottom, felt the tap tap and set the hook. One after another it was stupid haha. We did go back another time and didn't catch anything there, however. Definitely worth a try though

Jerry: Lots of great fishing areas in up state N.Y. Question is are u towing your own boat..Or figure on renting a boat, or maybe chartering a trip or 2? Lake George especially the Diamond Point area up to Bolton landing offers great places to stay but boat rental expensive..So if ur bringing ur own boat this is a great spring trip..Bass fishing is great with some Pike & Pickerel mixed in..And Lake trout fishing is great early season..Also good home base for fishing Loon lake, Schroon Lake and of course Lake Champlain..Good Luck on your trip...

I would advise against Loon Lake. Went there for a week with my friends and was very disappointed with the fishing. Plus the lake is smaller and busy. Not an adirondack feel
