Damn, looks like a good time! What kind of gear if required for those brutes? I'd been itching to get up there and try my hand at some of those big salmonoids.
When is the season in full swing? Any other info you can throw at me would be great FE. Thanks, Matt |

8' 6" to 10' 6" salmon, steelhead rod. A rather deep spool that holds alot of line. The fish are very strong this time of year cus they are fresh. The fish are actually on the move as we speak. I use 8 to 10 lb test suffix for the salmon and 6 lb for the steel. Oswego River runs fast and the deep spool is very important so you dont get spooled every time you hook up. My friends and I use alot of fresh eggs and skein. Also we drift alot of flies. Give it a shot its well worth the drive...........FISH-ON

I liked the 4 lb. for the Steelies in December on the Salmon River, when I was young enough to take the cold The Salmon fishing can be more like opening day Trout around here.... combat fishing. As Ed sez lots of line capacity is a must. If I hooked 6 fish in one day and landed 1 or 2 it was a great day. You will lose a lot of them, but the runs and the fight are awesome!! |
