Default schooled @ split rock

Well, got invited by Andy to fish split rock with him today. It was my first time there and we did it in typical Andy style (if you know Andy you know what I mean), met at Really early o'clock and hit the sunny pond in the dark, then it was too B & B for bait and then up to split rock. Ran into Catfishonthelake in the parking lot. Always a pleasure to meet njf fisherman!!! Carried the boat down to the water and we were off...Made several move to differnet spot through out the mornin and hooked up at each location....It never ceases to amaze me how much I learn from Andy each time we fish together, although our fishing styles are quit different I love to see thing from others points of view, it make me realize how much there is still to learn. Thanks again Andy...look forward to doin it again real soon...maybe next time we will try some plastics around the edges and perhaps some spinnerbaits and jigs also and maybe I can return the favor and teach an old dog some new tricks...LOL!!!!!!!

Wow, looks like you had an awesome day! Nice catches. What did you end up using for bait if you don't mind me asking. I typically like spinners, jigs, and plastics but seems a lot of people have been making some nice catches on live bait. It's great to learn new things...no one way is right.

Keep on keeping on!

Pleasure to meet you too Hatter. And it was nice to finally meet Andy in person.

Myself and Bob caught over 40 fish today.......all on soft-plastics.

This was the pool winner.

Some nice bass in there!

Didn't Andy have like 5 industrial drums filled with shiners in his garage? I'm guessing that was the bait of choice!

It was a good day all around. Got to finally meet Catfishonthelake and his buddy Bob. Met Maddhatterr at O' dark thirty and took him into a bait shop. I think he said it was his first time going into a shop that deals almost only in live bait, to me, it's my home away from home. Got up on the lake and the weather was good and light winds. Double anchored in no less than 6 spots through out the day, every spot seemed to hold fish. Picked away at bass and crappie and one slime dart. As the sun got higher and the wind picked up the yellow perch turned on and other fish shut down. Had a good amount of yellow perch in the 12 to 14 inch range. Thanx Hatterr for being handy with the camera, the battery in my camera went as soon as we got there. I think it's still a little early to be up there, no lilly pads or weed beds are up yet.
Back in the parking lot we did a walk down looking for trash and what not, didn't see much, the area was pretty clean. On the way out, we even stopped on the road to pick up a few plastic bottles. Took Hatterr out of his element and did the bait and wait. He likes the run and gun, and is hip to the latest style of metal flake and top producing bass lures. I learn so much now my head is gonna explode, I need time to digest all this information, but at heart I'm still just an old man with a bucket of live bait, thanx again.
