Default Dallas Bass Fishing

I am going to Dallas on a business trip the last week of April. Is there any place I can shore fishing for bass? I heard that Lake Fork is mostly for fishing with a guide? Any lure recommendations?

I don't know of any where to fish in Dallas, but I buy all my soft plastics from Lake Fork Tackle and they work wonders in our area.

.

When you fly with fishing gear, can you bring your Dot Gloves as carry-on or will you have to pack that in your suitcase?

Maybe you can buy some Western-style Dot Gloves while you're in Texas. Instead of rubber dots, they'l have rhinestones or something.

The three big lakes east of town are all good to varying degrees. Ray Hubbard, Tawakoni and Fork. Tawakoni is best for smaller white bass and hybrid white bass. There are like 5 different species of bass in that lake and many of them hybridize. Also monster catfish.

Ray Hubbard has big bass but can get very crowded bc of its proximity to Dallas. There is a BassPro overlooking the lake which is pretty cool.

Fork is a great lake but probably not something to tackle on a short trip. I would beat the banks at Tawakoni and throw small cranks, jigs and maybe soak some cut bait for catfish.

There is another great lake about an hour north of Dallas on the OK line called Texoma. Big, deep lake with monster stripers.

Good luck and shoot me a PM if you want more info. I grew up in Dallas and thats where my fishing obsession began so I will help as much as I can.

These are huge lakes so there is definitely some access to be found. Ray Hubbard has lots of homes on it so of the three it will have the least bank access. I would scout it on google maps. Here is the most recent fishing report from LRH.
