It is unfair and hard to believe but that is the way it is under this regional plan, the states that exceed their targets are rewarded while the states that under fish their target are penalized. I can only imagine how the regional fluke plan is going to work out.

First and foremost I am not making this a NY vs NJ argument, just pointing out facts and trying to get the record straight.

Paul with all due respect, you word this as if NY is the big bad wolf in all of this. CT shouldn't even be with us and the coast wide regulations.

Let me make this clear, I loathe playing on words, and hiding facts like, NJ had the lions share of the creel and size limit, while NY had less than it's fair share for over 10 years with all species of fish.

You post that NY went over 125%, well if NY had the share you in NJ had, we would never go over because we imposed way stricter regulations than NJ ever did or will of it's own free will, no they need to be forced to. NJ would have went way over with the regulations you set for yourselves if you had what NY had the last 10+ years.

Now You and all the others are crying foul when NY finally catches a break and you use your words in a way to say that NY is the problem, and you wish it was status quo?

Just so you know for years i have been saying NY and NJ should come together and fight together, but the NJ mentality was screw everyone else as long as we get ours, well you reap what you sew.

Now I still think instead of doing what you think is best for yourselves, you should open your eyes and start teaming up because this game they are playing is to take us all out.

You know what's happening and has happened in Cali, and the same thing is trying to be done in Mass. Don't think for a second that it won't happen here in our waters, because it can and will.

RussA, and Paul you both need to reconcile your statements. Russ you did make the statement:
"You post that NY went over 125%, well if NY had the share you in NJ had, we would never go over because we imposed way stricter regulations than NJ ever did or will of it's own free will, no they need to be forced to. NJ would have went way over with the regulations you set for yourselves if you had what NY had the last 10+ years."
The catch rates and quotas per state, and the formula used to establish them need to be posted here as a basis for your statements. Opinions?

No Paul made the statement about NY and CT going over 125%(NY) and 150%(CT), but Nj was under at 61%.

I stated if NY had the lions share of the quota as did NJ for 10+ years we would have never gone over and NJ would have went well over it.

These are facts.

it's truly unbelievable how anglers attack other anglers when we are all really trying to fight for AND accomplish the same things...

And as the old saying goes "If the queen had b***s she would be king" however in our situation the queen is NOAA, NMFC, and ASMFC and she has 20 heads and they are all up her big fat A**!!!!! The problem is not this state did this and that state did that kindergarten finger pointing. The problem is the management system as a whole with mis-management based on absolutely horrendous science and studies that results make absolutely no sense.

(emphasis added to above quote)

Time for a "fact" check!

Russ, that statement makes no sense. Since the inception of Sea Bass regulations (however many decades ago that was) up until a couple years ago the sea bass quota (and regulations) were COASTWIDE. No state, including NJ, had ANY "share" of any kind since the fishery was managed on a coastwide basis from the start.

Only the past couple of years has NJ been part of a "Region" along with every other state (in whatever regions they were put into).

So, as I said, your comments are nonsensical in this context since NJ was fishing on the exact same regulations as every other state from NC to ME up until the recent change to regional management. That would include the entire timeframe from just a few years ago back to the beginning of fishing for sea bass, probably somewhere around the time of colonization by the British.

I think you are confusing Fluke with Sea Bass.
