Gents,
I've posted before about making my yearly trip to Keyport to catch blues on the fly....I have all my gear packed and ready to go early tomorrow morning. My friend call local tackle shop and they said "stay home the blues have move to deep water or something." Have any of you see any schools out of Keyport harbor? I can go anytime an would wait until next week....it seems awful late in comparison to previous years. The cost to make the trip is now an issue.....would appreciate any advice. Again thanks to those who responded to previous requests.... Dr. Bee |

From the tip of sh it was all the 3-4 lb blues you wanted on metal like cast masters and crocddiles.
They loved the small swim shad in just about any color but that game gets expensive as they chop off the tails every other hit. |

I got some reports of medium to large sized blues on the staten island side north of the Great Kills bug light.

Cocktails in the Navesink River from a rental boat and from the shoreline in Western Sandy Hook Bay. Even the little ones should be fun on a fly rod. They certainly fight hard on a fresh-water spinning rod.

Had them last night in the bay and Today in the Navesink. I haven't gone out once in the past month without getting at least a couple of them. It's safe to say you'll probably hook up.
