Worst day fishing in my life and it wasn't because I was skunked

So I get to the D&R Canal and there is only one parking spot and no body fishing. I park and move to the hole on the low side of the bridge and catch a nice 14" on my 5th cast. As I'm reeling it in a small station wagon pulls in and lets out a women and a kid. I figure they are going for a walk and Dad will pick them up later, wrong! Dad parks illegally blocking the two cars that are legally parked and here comes another vehicle that also parks illegally and out gets an older woman. They guy pulls a few poles and a tackle box out of the car while I'm unhooking my fish and sets up 5 feet from me and casts right in to the hole with a bait set I'm fishing with spinners. When I say to him, "You have got to be kidding me, are you really setting up that close and casting into my spot?". He says why you gotta problem with that? And I say Yes there is 62 miles of canal and you don't need to set up right on top of me. His mother or his wife's mother starts in with the free country crap and I pull my stuff and move after telling her to go look up fishing ethics when she gets home. Ruined my whole afternoon. How can people be so rude? They had a kid with them too and that what really bothered me, teaching bad manners to youngsters. I'd never set up on someone like that, and my kid wouldn't either.

Sucks...the aholes are all over. Don't let it get to you. Good people good things...bad people bad things happen. Sad about the kid part.

Happened to me a few times too.
You did the right thing.
There are inconsiderate, me first, get the Eff out of my way people in all walks of life. Otherwise known as *******s.

Where you were casting, was this the first open spot by the parking spot?

If so they were simply just too lazy to go else where. They clearly didnt know about fishing ethics but assumed it was ok to just fish the nearest fishing spot to the parking, and didnt care to think about whether or not it's a bad thing to fish right next to a stranger.

If they actually skipped by spots and fished right by you just because you had a fish, then that's additional a-holery. They just wanted the fish and not care about you.

You said it best and there were other spots to fish, so you made the smart move and took it somewhere else.
