Go to weather channel put in a beach town you are going to be fishing by the most accurate wind direction but not necessarily amount of wind .

You can take a look at the current wind on www.ndbc.noaa.gov Click northeast and you will see a few buoys. Right now South at 8 knots, seas 2.3' at 8 seconds

I'm not sure why people use "services" like NWS or WU as they are not updated regularly. windguru is also fantastic Even better, click on resources here on the site, click on the first weather link, and click on the yellow buoy out off Fire Island - it'll give you almost up to the hour info on wind and seas |

Wind guru dead wrong today and has been wrong very frequently. After many many years of trying to figure out the weather. I look at hour to hour forecast at a city on the water from weather channel then compare that to wind guru NWS etc. if they are all conflicting I would bet money money on the weather channel every day
