Stripers!!!

Raritan stripers hammered me today! Tossing a leadhead/grub when it got slammed & fish tore off downriver. I had light 8lb test setup, so it was a long battle before I got nice striper in (about 25"). Didn't bother with picture since striper really gave everything & needed reviving.

Switched to heavier rod with 15lb braid and a husky jerk. Before my nerves had settled, my drag was tearing again. I put SERIOUS heat on this time & got striper in picture, about 25". After a dry spell, a REAL bruiser hit. Another long battle, putting CRAZY pressure on (Power pro is good), thought rod would break... but everything held up. Needed 2 cold hands to land the beast (about 29"). Couldn't hold well for pic. Wiped out, I didn't take another cast and went home.

Never fished for steelhead but I would think that kind of fishing would rival that !! Thanx for the post, fish look healthy !!

That a bunch of real nice fish, congrats! Three fish is awesome, I don't think I could have left though! Andy, stripers are fun, but they are nothing like a fresh chromer!
