American shad fishing is closed on all NJ rivers with the exception of the Delaware River. River herring fishing is closed on all NJ rivers.

Rutgers has a Scientific Collecting Permit which allows them to capture A. shad & river herring via nets, hook & line, etc. for a tagging study on the Raritan River.

Very nice Mr. Shucker. These tidal rivers come to life when there's good flow.
